Introduction to Logic
PHIL 6 is an introductory course in logic. It helps students learn how to analyze and evaluate arguments. By studying the basic principles of reasoning and common fallacies, students will develop the ability to think critically and be able to make good judgments on various arguments concerning the affairs of daily life. In short, we study logic to become a good thinker. We want to be able to evaluate arguments so as to decide whether we should accept a belief, or support a position, on the basis of the arguments for or against it.
